The Department of Hygiene - first department of the current School of Public Health was founded
With support of Open Society, Mongolia (formerly Soros Foundation) “Needs assessment for Public health training” project was implemented and within this project public health training needs of health professionals working in urban and rural areas were determined. As a result of the project implementation, the new training programme on public health was developed and introduced.
“Public health specialist” undergraduate curriculum was updated and according to the curriculum training in dual specialisation in public health and hygiene started
In association with formulation and implementation of the “Government Policy on Public Health” and in order to accommodate health sector and public needs, the Department of Public Health was expanded into the School of Public Health with 25 faculty and departments such as Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, and Department of Health Economics.
The Scientific Committee of the School was formed in order to have master thesis defense and PhD candidates’ pre-defense.
First accreditation of undergraduate training programme in “Public Health” by the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation
Higher education standard on “Public health”, MNS 5323:2012, was approved.
“091801” specialization index on “Public Health” was approved by the Minister of Education decree on “Specialization indices” dated March 13, 2014.
Second accreditation of undergraduate training programme in “Public Health” by the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation
Expansion of the School by having six departments: Department of Environmental Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Nutrition, Department of Health Policy and Department of Health Social Work and Social Sciences.
